Want to get involved with ASCEND but aren’t sure how you can help? There are lots of way! ASCEND is currently looking for a few volunteers to assist in the following areas:
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Volunteer Coordinator:Meet new people!
Are you an enthusiastic, organized, outgoing person with good communication skills who wants to be involved in a great cause? ASCEND is looking for someone who can help us keep in touch with and inform our volunteers about what’s happening with ASCEND. We need someone who can donate approximately 1 – 2 hours a week e-mailing and contacting our volunteers about upcoming events (weekly/biweekly), helping to organize volunteers at events, and reaching out to new volunteers. If you like working with people, and want to help ASCEND make ending a national priority, e-mail.
Donor/member Database Entry: See your work directly help ASCEND!
ASCEND is growing by leaps and bounds! As a result, we need help setting up our new database of donors and members. We are looking for someone who is comfortable doing data entry for approximately 1 – 2 hours per week in our North Charleston office. We are using Blackbaud’s Razor Edge software and will teach you how to input names and information. It’s easy! If you are more comfortable working “behind the scenes,” computer literate and results driven – e-mail.
EVENTS
ASCEND needs people who can volunteer and participate in local events as they come up. Past events include The Custom Home and Design Show Silent Auction, Belk Charity Days, participating in Relay for Life, and handing out fliers/providing information about ASCEND at other local events (such as at Stingrays or Riverdog game, at a local store, etc.) and selling raffle tickets.
For just a few hours you can help ASCEND spread the word about making cancer a national priority!
SPECIAL PROJECTS
More of a "behind the scenes person?" From time to time, we need help with various tasks such as help with mailings, stuffing envelopes, making phone calls, fundraising, and other tasks.
SERVICES / EXPERTISE
What's your specialty? Let us know how you would like to help ASCEND. We are always looking for talented individuals who can help us make a difference. Examples include:
- Like to write? We are looking for people to help us create and research content for a Newsletter.
- In the restaurant or catering business? We are looking for help catering some events.
- Graphic Designer? We need help with brochures/signage/invitations etc.
DONATE An Item
ASCEND is always looking for items of value for silent auctions and prize give aways at events. What's hiding in your attic or desk that could be put to better use?Examples include: electronics, tickets to sporting events, antiques, gift certificates, collectibles, autographed paraphernalia, airline tickets, hotel stays, art work, photography, bath & body items, day at a spa, dinners, trips, sports equipment, etc.
